We were looking to kill some time while waiting for high tide to surf. With a short drive over to Miyagi island we found ourselves at the Nuchi-una Sightseeing & Salt Factory. There’s a short trail with a beautiful overlook of the island and after you can walk over to the factory for ice cream, tastings, gifts, and see where they make the salt.
The next island over Ikei Island, was very small but had a lighthouse and the Nakabaru Vestige, remains of what some of the earliest homes looked like on the island dating back thousands of years. On the way out if you feel like cooling off or braving the heights jump off the ikei bridge and snap a few photos of the stunning views.
